Why Drag Religion To Your Court Case Mujahid Asks Najib
Former religious affairs minister Mujahid Yusof Rawa expressed regret over the oath sworn by embattled ex-prime minister Najib Abdul Razak with regard to his ongoing legal battles.
"Najib’s action of swearing an oath at the Kampung Baru Mosque yesterday is deeply regrettable. It was an effort to drum up religious sentiments among his supporters while he was still on trial at the Federal Court.
"He resorted to this after various efforts to postpone his appeal had failed.
"It was even more regrettable when he gathered his supporters to witness his oath including a religious speaker," he said.
Yesterday, Najib recited the sumpah mubahalah oath at the Kampung Baru mosque located in Kuala Lumpur.
In his oath, Najib claimed that he did not realise that the RM42 million that had been transferred to his account came from SRC International Sdn Bhd.
“I, Mohd Najib Abdul Razak, having fought for my justice on this earth, recite my oath.
“I have never, at any time, known about the RM42 million sum that came from SRC. I never agreed to establish SRC for the purpose of taking any funds for personal or filial use.
“I have never ordered any of the company’s directors to misappropriate funds into my own bank account for any reason whatsoever,” the Pekan MP declared.
On that note, Mujahid said he was concerned over Najib’s approach to the matter and questioned the latter on the need to drag religion into his court case.
Former religious affairs minister Mujahid Yusof Rawa"I’m concerned with the approach taken by Najib and his supporters. Are these the types of Malays we want or do we want Malays who are more dignified and uphold religious values to their best?
"We do not want to be Malays whose emotions can be played with using narrow racial and religious sentiments.
"I call on all the people to trust the Federal Court. They will arrive at a decision based on evidence and witnesses," the Parit Buntar MP said. - Mkini
