Why Did Moh Stop Sharing Granular Data On Covid 19 Deaths Asks Dzul

The Selangor Taskforce for Covid-19 chairperson Dzulkefly Ahmad has questioned why the Health Ministry stopped sharing granular data on Covid-19 deaths in the past week.
The last time the ministry revealed such data to the public was on July 13. 
“(I) truly wanted to know why the Health Ministry and Health Ministry director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah stopped sharing granular data on deaths.
“Aren’t they happy with my plots that deaths evidently involve younger age groups? They should be thankful for the reminder.
“Health Ministry, do the needful, yeah,” Dzulkefly said on Twitter today, tagging both the Health Ministry and Noor Hisham in his tweet.
The former health minister also attached a chart showing a weekly analysis of the number of patients succumbing to Covid-19 from April 17 to July 9, broken down by age groups.

He was responding to senior paediatrician consultant Dr Amar-Singh HSS, who had also asked the same question. 

“No idea which hospital they died in, no idea what age, etc, since July 14.
“Age is critical to understand the changing pandemic,” he tweeted this morning.

Previously, the Health Ministry provided detailed information such as gender, age and hospital the patient died in as well as the specific co-morbidity, among others, for every Covid-19 death.

However, starting July 14, the Health Ministry switched to a table that grouped the deaths by state, with the figures further broken down by gender, citizenship status, co-morbidity status and whether the patient died in a hospital or was brought in dead.
Critics have consistently urged the government to be more transparent with its granular data related to Covid-19 to enable people to make informed decisions and to prevent speculations as well as anxiety among the public. - Mkini
