Vision 2020 Has Been Postponed To 2030

Pakatan Harapan needs to conduct a reality check. Stop dreaming! Everything they are saying cannot be done. And even if 2020 is postponed to 2030, or 2040, or even 2121, it still cannot be done. And it cannot be done because nowhere in the world can your so-called “nine challenges” be done. NO HOLDS BARRED

Today we start a new year, 2020. The first thing to note is that Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s Vision 2020 or Wawasan 2020 has been postponed to 2030. According to Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng, the fuel subsidy has also been postponed to beyond 2020 because, if the government was to implement the “hari ini kita bentuk kerajaan esok harga minyak akan turun” promise made in the 14th General Election (GE14), the taxpayers are going to suffer and the cost of living is going to go up (READ HERE).
Yes, after almost 20 months in power (about nine days short, to be exact), Pakatan Harapan has finally understood what that famous American saying “there is no such thing as a free lunch” means. Pakatan would be advised to learn about this “there is no such thing as a free lunch” doctrine and remember it well. It is like at a game of poker or blackjack. When you win that means someone has to lose. There is no win-win situation. Money must come out of your pocket for it to be able to go into someone else’s pocket.

Vision 2020 or Wawasan 2020 was a silly and unrealistic idea to begin with When Pakatan Harapan promised all these free lunches did they not realise this? When you abolish toll charges and allow highway users to drive on the highways free of charge, someone else has to pay to recover the cost of building those highways and the cost of maintaining them all year long. Highways cost money and maintaining them cost even more than building them. So, who pays if the highway users do not?
The same with all those other freebies that Pakatan Harapan promised. Who pays to build schools and hospitals? Who pays the salaries of doctors, nurses, teachers, lecturers, and all those administrative staff?
In the UK, the NHS costs more than RM700 billion and education more than RM500 billion, or RM1.2 trillion a year in total. That is just for healthcare and education. What about security and defence? Highways are toll-free (except for the Birmingham by-pass, which you do not have to use since there is an alternative toll-free highway).
UK’s annual budget is about RM5 trillion while its revenue is slightly lower (so, yes, the UK, too, runs at a deficit). But then we pay a lot of taxes and the GST (VAT) here is 20%. But if everything is free, like in Pakatan Harapan’s “Malaysia Baru”, then expect the shitty life in the UK to turn even more shitty.

To meet those “nine challenges” of Wawasan 2020 you need to abolish Sharia laws and Sharia courts Pakatan Harapan has to be honest and realistic. You can lie for a while but eventually your lies will get exposed. And that is what is happening now.
Take Mahathir’s Vision 2020 or Wawasan 2020 as one example. What did they promise back in 1991? According to Rock’y Bru, there are nine key points or challenges in the Wawasan 2020:
Challenge 1: Establishing a united Malaysian nation made up of one Bangsa Malaysia (Malaysian Race).
Challenge 2: Creating a psychologically liberated, secure and developed Malaysian society.
Challenge 3: Fostering and developing a mature democratic society.
Challenge 4: Establishing a fully moral and ethical society.
Challenge 5: Establishing a matured liberal and tolerant society.
Challenge 6: Establishing a scientific and progressive society.
Challenge 7: Establishing a fully caring society.
Challenge 8: Ensuring an economically just society, in which there is a fair and equitable distribution of the wealth of the nation.
Challenge 9: Establishing a prosperous society with an economy that is fully competitive, dynamic, robust and resilient.
(READ MORE HERE) Okay, let us analyse those nine points or challenges made in 1991, which were to be met in 2020 and now postponed to 2030. Can those challenges be met by 2030 or even by 2121?
Let us be realistic. There are too many things that are going to prevent Malaysia from achieving those nine challenges in 2020 or 2030 or even 2121. So why in heaven’s name make all those promises when you know it is going to be impossible to meet those objectives?
First point or challenge would be Islam.
Is Pakatan Harapan prepared to turn Malaysia into a secular country and abolish all Sharia laws? Is Pakatan Harapan prepared to amend the Federal Constitution of Malaysia to allow Christianity to be preached to Muslims and to allow Muslims to leave Islam? Is Pakatan Harapan prepared to legalise gay unions and abolish anti-gay and anti-sodomy laws? Is Pakatan Harapan prepared to abolish Chinese and Tamil schools and have only one type of national school? Is Pakatan Harapan prepared to allow academic freedom that includes debating and disputing God and religion?

To meet those “nine challenges” of Wawasan 2020 you need to close down Chinese schools and abolish Chinese education Yes, those few questions are just the tip of the iceberg to demonstrate what needs to be done to meet the objectives of Wawasan 2020, 2030 or 2121. If Pakatan Harapan is not prepared to allow Malaysia to “open up” then forget about all those Wawasan or Visions. They are as real as reducing the price of petrol and turning all tolled-highways into toll-free highways.
