Vietjet To Receive Up To 10 New Aircraft By Year End

Amidst a global aviation market facing shortages and rising travel demand, Vietjet is expected to take delivery of up to 10 brand-new aircraft by the end of 2024. This expansion will further bolster the airline’s leading modern fleet, aligning perfectly with its development goals and enhancing passenger experiences across its extensive network of both domestic and international routes.



Most of the new aircraft, scheduled for delivery from August 2024, are the latest A321neo ACF (Airbus Cabin Flex) model from Airbus. In 2019, Vietjet became the world’s first carrier to operate the ACF model.

The A321neo ACF features an improved cabin design, ensuring standard seat dimensions and spacing, offering an enhanced in-flight experience for passengers. These aircraft also provide at least 16% fuel savings, reduce noise by up to 75% and have less emissions by 50%.

Recently, Vietjet placed a firm order with Airbus for 20 new-generation wide-body A330neo (A330-900) aircraft, valued at $7.4 billion (approx. RM 33.05 billion). Travellers will soon be able to fly on these planes on longer journeys, enjoying the highest levels of safety, comfort, and state-of-the-art amenities.



Vietjet currently operates a fleet of over 100 aircraft, including the most advanced and safest generations in the world, such as the A320, A321ceo, A321neo and A321neo ACF, and A330. The airline is committed to environmental protection and fuel efficiency, with a goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. Vietjet has transported over 200 million passengers, including millions who have flown for the first time.

In the first half of 2024, Vietjet served 13.1 million passengers and operated 70,154 safe flights. The airline’s consolidated revenue totaled at VND34.016 trillion (approx. RM 6.04 billion) with a consolidated pre-tax profit of VND1.311 trillion (approx. RM 232.86 million), representing increases of 15% and 433% year-over-year, respectively. The profit even exceeded the H1/2024 target by 21%. Vietjet paid a total of VND3.687 trillion (approx. RM 654.88 million) in direct and indirect taxes and fees.

With the 10 new aircraft arriving in the second half of 2024, Vietjet will continue to expand its network both in Vietnam and internationally, after adding new destinations in Australia, India, China, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Laos, Cambodia, and beyond. The daily service linking Kuala Lumpur with Ho Chi Minh City offers Malaysian travellers convenient transit options, facilitating exploration of Vietnam's top destinations and other popular international tourist spots.
