Upko Calls Pm And His Cabinet To Resign

Ewon said Muhyiddin and his cabinet had turned their backs on the Yang di-Pertuan Agong on the revocation of the emergency ordinances, setting aside the King's decree for all the ordinances to be tabled and debated in Parliament.
"The counter-statement of the Prime Minister's Office yesterday afternoon seems to give the impression that the Yang di-Pertuan Agong has made a mistake.
"This has huge implications to the system of parliamentary democracy and constitutional monarchy."
The Kadamaian state assemblyman said this when met by the media after accompanying Luyang state assemblyman Phoong Jin Zhe to lodge a police report against Muhyiddin at the Karamunsing police station today.
Ewon also stated that the violation of the Federal Constitution and the Rukun Negara principle by the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government would send the wrong message to the younger generation in the country.
"The younger generation, including children who are still in school who has been taught about the Rukun Tetangga, will see the prime minister and his ministers as going against the Agong," he said.
On July 26, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan informed Parliament that the ordinances had been revoked by the cabinet effective July 21.
However, dispute arose as the PN government had neither made an earlier announcement on revocation, nor obtained the Agong's consent.
Ewon said the solution to the matter should start with the resignation of Muhyiddin and his cabinet members followed by the formation of an interim government.
"Muhyiddin and his cabinet members have belittled the Yang di-Pertuan Agong's authority and failed to manage the country's ongoing health, economic and political crisis.
"Following their resignation, the King will have the mandate to appoint an interim government comprising representatives of all parties in parliament for a special period specifically to address the health and economic crisis.
"When everything is calm, then elections can be held and the people can make the choice of government they want." - NST
