Umno Zahid Can T Handle Criticism Says Muda
Umno and its president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi are unable to handle criticism when it comes from people seeking clarifications on certain issues, Muda information chief Syahmie Fayyadh Jaafar claimed.
Syahmie claimed that Umno would resort to “hiding” behind legal letters as political intimidation when pressed, instead of reaching out to correct facts or hold debates.
He was responding to Subang Umno division chief Dr Armand Azha Abu Hanifah’s statement, reported on Aug 20, that claimed Muda had lost its direction.
Armand accused the youth party of being used by “invisible hands” as a political tool, and that they should focus on fighting important issues closer to the younger generation instead of “playing up” political issues that have been resolved through the legal process.
“The reality is, Umno and Zahid (above) cannot stand criticism (and) they wanted us to forget how the 47 corruption charges emerged.
“What Armand is trying to do is become Zahid’s unlicensed lawyer.
“Unfortunately, not everyone in Umno can distinguish between ‘insufficient evidence’ and ‘full acquittal’ or perhaps maybe they do, but (chose) convenience in deceiving the public,” he said in a statement today.
‘Look in the mirror’
Syahmie said Armand’s statement, in confidently claiming Muda was “being selective” (pilih bulu) when voicing out only when it comes to Umno, could only come because his party does it and assumed others are the same.

Former Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman“Even the former Muda president (Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman) was charged in court with criminal breach of trust. He did not whine, point to ‘invisible hands’, or run behind lawyers to threaten anybody, but instead faced it in open court till the end.
“So, Armand, before you accuse someone of ‘being selective’, please look in the mirror (and at your own party).
“Don’t challenge people’s integrity when you yourself do not understand the difference between principles and perception.
“We are not asking for much, but for the justice system not to bow to power.”
‘We won’t bow down’
Syahmie said Muda and its secretary-general Ainie Haziqah remain unfazed and will not bow down.
“We know they will not accept a debate challenge, because the truth is not something they are able to openly defend.
“We know they will not bring the case to open court, because that is where all that is hidden will be exposed.
“And we know, when a lawsuit becomes the final weapon, that is a sign they have run out of points to argue,” he said.

Muda secretary-general Ainie HaziqahSyahmie further reiterated the party’s demand to re-indict the deputy prime minister, separate the power of the attorney-general and the public prosecutor, as well as to explain DNAA (discharged not amounting to an acquittal) applications in parliament mandatorily.
Ainie received a letter of demand from Zahid’s lawyer on Aug 18, following her speech at the “Turun Anwar” rally last month, which criticised the former’s prior corruption charges.
The party described Zahid’s action as “a political intimidation to silence the youth and the rakyat”, who continue to demand accountability regarding Zahid’s DNAA granted in September 2023.
The party also urged Malaysians to join their #DakwaSemulaZahid (Re-indict Zahid) campaign, which demands that the Attorney-General’s Chambers reopen its case on Zahid’s corruption and abuse of power charges. - Mkini
