Umno Youth Unperturbed By Exit Of Annuar S Son
Resignations and exodus from Umno will not cripple the spirit of the party members to stay loyal to its struggles.
So said Umno Youth chief Muhamad Akmal Saleh in commenting about the resignation of Ketereh Umno Youth chief Afiq Amani Annuar, and several others, from the party yesterday. Afiq is the son of expelled Umno leader Annuar Musa.
Akmal (above) assured that the Youth wing will remain steadfast in continuing efforts to strengthen the party further.
“Leaders come and go, what is lost will always be replaced with a new one. But Umno’s struggle will go on.
“An exodus from the party will never cripple the spirit of other youth members who still believe in the party and will stick with it come what may,” he said in a statement.
He noted that Umno’s struggle is not based on any political figure or individual but for the Malay race, the Islamic religion, and the country.
Afiq’s exit, announced yesterday, was joined by the entire 20-member committee of the Cabang Tiga Haji Musa Umno branch, along with other Umno leaders.
These include former Ipoh mayor Sirajuddin Salleh, former Natural Resources Ministry deputy secretary-general Mohd Ibrahim Abu Bakar, and former Bagan Datuk Umno Youth chief Nik Mohammad Azli Nik Ariffin.
Afiq insisted that his decision was made on his own accord, without external influence. He further declared that he will be taking a break from politics but will support Perikatan Nasional in the ongoing state elections.
Akmal said the Ketereh Umno Youth chief position will now be held by Azhan Ishak, who was previously the vice-chief. - Mkini
