Umno Youth Not Just Chinese All Races Should Join Govt Sector

Umno Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh has called on all races in the country to join the government sector, adding that the call to encourage non-Malays to join the public sector should not be limited to just the Chinese.
In his Facebook post, he said other races including the Indian community should also be encouraged to join the public service.
“First of all, it should not be encouraged just for the Chinese but also for Indians and other races as well, especially in the military where there is less participation among non-bumiputera.
“Secondly, we have asked the government to prevent any private companies in the country from hiring its employees based on their race or the requirement to know a language other than Malay,” he added.
Akmal went on to suggest that the government refine the schooling system.
“Perhaps the time has come for a single-stream education system to be implemented,” he added.
Campaign to boost Chinese participation
Akmal was commenting on the government campaign to encourage more Chinese to join the public service.
It was previously reported that the campaign to encourage more Chinese to join the government sector will be held across the country starting from Malacca this Sunday.
Sin Chew Daily reported that Chan Ming Kai, the political secretary to the prime minister, said the campaign was held because Chinese participation in the public sector was still low.
Chan said during the campaign, Chinese civil servants will share their work experience with those interested in following suit.
He added that the campaign was a joint effort organised by the prime minister’s political secretary’s office and Media Chinese International Limited.
