Umno Veterans Tell Dr M To Stop Acting Like A Rogue Hantu Raya

Umno Veterans Club has told Dr Mahathir Mohamad to stop playing the role of a “rogue hantu raya” following his renewed push to unite the Malays under a new umbrella movement.
Its secretary-general Mustapha Yaakub reminded the former premier that Umno members would not be deceived by the formation of a so-called Malay secretariat committee.
“Mahathir was the one who divided the Malays in Umno after leaving the party and forming Bersatu.
“Now he wants to unite the Malays and is inviting Umno members to join him.
“His grudge against Umno leaders has driven him to want to destroy the very party that once made him prime minister for decades,” he said in a statement today.
On Wednesday, Mahathir announced the formation of a secretariat committee after meeting with several leaders, including from Perikatan Nasional, as part of another bid to “save the Malays” through restoring their political dominance.
Asked if the movement would involve Umno, Mahathir – who after leaving Umno led two splinter parties, Bersatu and Pejuang – said he was open to its members joining the struggle.
Mahathir ‘forgot his roots’
Mustapha accused Mahathir of forgetting his roots and the role Umno played in his rise.
“Without Umno, he would have been just a doctor. But today, he wants to wipe Umno out. He is truly an ungrateful person who forgets his roots.
“Umno veterans respect his age, which is nearing 100, but his behaviour does not reflect that of a respected elder,” he said.
“Stop being a ‘rogue hantu raya’. Umno members will not be swayed by his calls.
“Umno’s umbrella is big enough to shelter its members. They do not need one crafted by him,” he added. - Mkini
