Umno To Address Agong S Disappointment On Political Situation
Umno vice-president Khaled Nordin said outgoing prime minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob will address the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s concerns within the next couple of days.
This comes after the king said he was disappointed with the latest political developments in the country.
“I think the (caretaker) prime minister will answer in one or two days. He said this during the political bureau meeting because we asked what the Agong meant (in his statement).
“He (Ismail Sabri) is the best person to answer what the disappointment is,” Khaled (above) said.
Umno supreme council member Ab Rauf Yusoh also told reporters earlier that said he did not know why the Agong was disappointed.
“We will issue a statement later. We don’t actually know what the Agong is disappointed about.
“But surely the country needs a stable political situation,” Rauf told reporters after Umno’s political bureau meeting at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) today.
However, Rauf claimed the matter was not discussed in the political bureau meeting.
Earlier today, the comptroller of the royal household Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin said: "His Majesty had expressed his disappointment with the latest political developments but had no choice but to consent to the request of the prime minister in order to return the mandate to the rakyat to choose a stable government.”
He said His Majesty had stressed that it was important to ensure political stability and a healthy economy for the good of the country and its people.
Meanwhile, tonight’s supreme council meeting at Umno headquarters will discuss on winning the general election.
“We have asked the (election) machinery on all levels to be ready and plan accordingly.
“This general election, Umno must perform well,” Rauf said. - Mkini
