Umno Not Interested In No Confidence Motion Against Pm Says Tajuddin

(FMT) – Umno has no interest in raising a motion of no confidence against Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin at the next parliamentary sitting, says Tajuddin Abdul Rahman.
According to Berita Harian, the party’s elections director said Umno only wished to focus on ways to manage the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Everyone has given their word, including the opposition. So speed up the next Parliament sitting,” he said after handing out Bantuan Prihatin Rakyat (BPR) aid to residents in his Pasir Salak constituency today.
“There is no need to be afraid. The prime minister has been assured that no one will raise a no-confidence motion.”
Tajuddin also called for Parliament to reconvene immediately so that MPs will have the opportunity to give their views and help the government during the pandemic.
He said MPs would be able to provide many suggestions and ideas to help the government take action and address the issue of Covid-19, the people and economy.
“Currently, the people’s representatives are just sitting (around), watching and distributing food aid. That’s all that can be done throughout the Emergency period,” he said.
The Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah previously said he wanted Parliament to reconvene as soon as possible for MPs to discuss Covid-19 issues, including the emergency ordinance and Putrajaya’s national recovery plan.
The Malay Rulers had also issued a joint statement, saying there was no need for the Emergency to be extended beyond Aug 1 and that state assemblies must also reconvene soon.
