The 22-year-old student had also lodged a police report over the matter.
UM, in a statement today, said the management of the university viewed seriously the police report lodged by the student and that it is looking into details of the accusation.
The management of the university also said it is open to cooperate with all parties involved to resolve the matter.
"UM is not only an institution to further higher education but also a centre of various public activities such as medical treatment, religious, culture and sports.
"As such, the university has implemented all precautionary measures needed to ensure the risk of the spread of Covid-19 within the campus is under control," read the statement.
UM added that it is the responsibility of the university to ensure the campus is conducive and safe for its residents during the on-going pandemic.
"The commitment of UM in efforts to combat the pandemic is reflected through contribution by medical experts as well as contribution in all aspects of the scientific field.
"This also include the role of the UM Medical Centre as a Covid-19 treatment centre as well as vaccination centre (PPV)," it said.
Hence, all campus residents are required to play their roles, not only to protect themselves but also their family and the community at large from the virus.
It was reported in a news portal that the student had claimed that the university insisted that she get her vaccine first.
The student was quoted as saying that she agreed to get the vaccine of the chosen brand after she was forced to do so and that she had informed the university about her decision.
The student, however, could not get her appointment date for the vaccine before the examination on June 8 and the university barred her from sitting for the examination.
The student later lodged the police report over the matter at the Brickfields district police headquarters here yesterday. - NST
