Two Detained Over Pharmacy Snatch Theft

KUALA LUMPUR: Two men have been detained in connection with a snatch theft at a pharmacy along Jalan Gombak-Setapak.
Wangsa Maju OCPD Supt Rajab Ahad Ismail said the two men aged 31 and 40 were detained at a hotel in Jalan Pudu at about 2am on Tuesday (Nov 24).
"We also seized the clothing used in the heist. The jewellery that was stolen has been sold to a third party and we are in the midst of tracking the suspect down, ” he said when contacted later Tuesday.
Supt Rajab said the suspects have criminal records including for drug related offences.
"We believe the suspects were involved in various robberies and vehicle thefts in Setapak and Sentul.
"The car used in the theft was reported stolen in Cyberjaya," he added.
The suspects will be remanded for further investigation, Supt Rajab said.
"We will complete the investigation and forward the investigation paper to the deputy public prosecutor.
"We are grateful for the cooperation shown by all parties that led to the arrests," he said.

The video of a snatch theft at a pharmacy went viral on social media and WhatsApp.
The 45-second footage taken from CCTVs in the area captures two men alighting from an orange compact car and walking towards a shoplot.
The video cuts to another camera angle which shows one of the men opening the door to the pharmacy and walking in.
He walks toward the cashier before the video cuts to another angle showing him approaching a woman at the cashier’s counter.
The man, who was in black and wearing a face mask, then tugs on the woman’s necklace and she begins to struggle.
The man then snatches the necklace while the woman and the cashier struggle with him and he hits the woman before running away.
Supt Rajab had said the incident occurred at around 9pm on Saturday (Nov 21) at a pharmacy along Jalan Gombak.
"The suspects managed to flee in a vehicle with two gold chains worth at least RM10,000.
"We have acquired CCTV footage from the area and checks revealed both men wore masks and the car they were using had a fake licence plate," he said, adding that the case was being investigated as robbery. - Star
