Traffic Slow Moving But Under Control In Kuala Lipis Gua Musang
Travellers returning to Kelantan for the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration are flooding the roads in this district since 7am today.
A survey conducted along the alternative route of Kuala Lipis-Gua Musang found a marked increase in vehicles passing through this stretch but the situation is under control.
Motorist Atiqah Kamalia Yahya, 30, conceded the traffic is quite slow as she left Shah Alam in Selangor at 11pm and arrived in Gua Musang five hours later.
“Initially I was afraid of being caught in major congestion especially in Gua Musang after seeing the updates on the traffic situation uploaded by friends as more cars diverted from the main route to the old road as the alternative route on Facebook.
“However, I was lucky as I was not caught in the jam even though traffic is quite slow, perhaps some road users are still not familiar with the new route,” she told Bernama here today.
Nonetheless, private sector employee, Rozaihad Rosli, 35, said she was caught in a jam from Merapoh, Pahang up to the alternative road to Gua Musang.
“The traffic was very congested from Merapoh to Gua Musang even though traffic flow was smooth after passing Gua Musang police district headquarters when the two-lane road opens into a four-lane route,” she said.
Meanwhile, Gua Musang police chief Sik Choon Foo said monitoring by the traffic division found the number of vehicles from Kuala Lumpur to Kelantan surged with heavier traffic expected in this district this evening or tomorrow.
“We advised road users to be patient when confronted with the congestion in Gua Musang and they should be careful to avoid any untoward incidents,” he said.
