Tiong Must Apologise To Health Dg In Parliament Jelutong Mp
PARLIAMENT | Bintulu MP Tiong King Sing should repeat his apology to Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in the Dewan Rakyat, said Jelutong MP RSN Rayer.
At the end of Question Time this morning, Rayer (above) said he has filed a written motion seeking an order for Tiong to apologise in the Dewan Rakyat, describing the latter's reported statement as being "insincere".
Rayer, who was ejected from the House last week after an outcry erupted over Tiong's remarks questioning whether Noor Hisham was "afraid to die" for not being in Sabah to monitor the Covid-19 situation, also requested for the decision against him to be retracted.
Similarly, he called on Dewan Rakyat Speaker Azhar Azizan Harun to also retract a five-day suspension order against Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng over the same issue.
Tiong (below) had reportedly apologised for his remarks in a statement yesterday but Rayer insisted the matter must be resolved in the Dewan Rakyat.
"His apology appears to be insincere because his statement (against Noor Hisham) was made here (in the Dewan Rakyat).
"Secondly, since he has apologised, it means that the deputy speaker's decision was 'not very smart' (kurang bijak) to eject me," Rayer said at the end of Question Time this morning.
Rayer was ejected from the Dewan Rakyat by Deputy Speaker Azalina Othman Said for refusing to follow her orders during the heated outcry last week.
Azhar, meanwhile, suspended Lim for five-days from last Thursday after the latter called Azalina's decision to offer Tiong a chance to either apologise or explain the remarks, a "stupid ruling".
This morning, Rayer had once again stood up to raise a point of order on the same issue and Deputy Speaker Abdul Rashid Hasnon, who presided over the sitting, said the speaker's office will respond to the written motion submitted. - Mkini
