Three Candidates Vying For Amanah Youth Chief Post

There are three candidates vying for the position of Amanah Youth chief, says deputy Razak Ridzuan.
Current chief Mohd Hasbie Muda will defend his post, but he will be challenged by Selangor Amanah Youth chief Danial Al Rashid Haron Aminar Rashid.
The third candidate, whose identity has not been revealed, would be an Amanah Youth exco member who has been active behind the scenes, said Razak.
Amanah Youth deputy chief Razak Ridzuan“(The individual is) not an elected representative but has the support from the youth chapter in several states.
“I think there are at least three factions (camps). I stand behind this third candidate as we both want a leadership reform,” Razak said when contacted by Malaysiakini, adding that the name will be announced soon.
However, according to internal party sources, the other individual gunning for the top post is the Perak chapter’s Youth exco Azhar Rahman.
‘Radical change needed’
Razak previously criticised Hasbie’s leadership, saying that the youth wing needed to change after failing to gain the support of young voters and convince Malay Muslims to support Pakatan Harapan.
Therefore, he said a radical change needs to be made so that reforms can materialise.
Commenting further, Razak said the leaders need to open their hearts and be brave enough to take responsibility.
Amanah Youth chief Mohd Hasbie Muda“Amanah is a Malay-Muslim party in Harapan. If anyone should take responsibility, who is at the forefront of defending the narrative that Harapan is not the enemy of Malays and Islam, it should be Amanah Youth.
“No leaders want to admit their failures. They only want to defend their positions and refuse to make way for others.
“Amanah Youth is in denial, and they think that the party they are in is good enough," he added.
‘Competition is normal’
Razak further said Amanah Youth's desire to avoid competition within the party is a backward attitude that closes the room for reform.
"Questions of competition or clashes should not arise.
"Competition is normal in any democratic organisation," he said.
Razak added that Amanah Youth is in need of a visionary and proactive leader.
“Amanah Youth is now in a frozen state, and is too comfortable, to the extent that it is unable to bring new ideas or move forward,” he said.
The Amanah Youth Wing Convention is expected to take place this November and delegates will choose a total of 27 candidates to fill positions at the national level.
They will then consult with each other to determine who should be appointed to hold key positions, including the youth chief and deputy chief. - Mkini
