There S Enough Material For A Netflix Series Psm Tells Macc
PSM is surprised that MACC claims to be hindered by a “lack of information” regarding the alleged Sabah scandal, as stated by its chief commissioner, Azam Baki.
“There is enough material released for at least one season of a Netflix series,” PSM deputy chairperson S Arutchelvan told Malaysiakini.
“Since the whistleblower claims to have more videos, perhaps the authorities are waiting for Season Two or the Sabah state election, whichever comes first,” he added.
He also noted that Azam’s predecessor, Latheefa Koya, believes there is sufficient evidence to indicate corruption.

MACC chief commissioner Azam BakiLatheefa, who served as the MACC chief commissioner during the Pakatan Harapan administration, had said the videos published by Malaysiakini showed “clear evidence” of corruption and completely satisfied the definition of “gratification” under Section 23 of the MACC Act 2009.
Since November, Malaysiakini has published more than eight videos and a flood of WhatsApp screenshots related to the case.
The whistleblower, a businessperson, claimed that the videos captured discussions about bribes he offered to several assemblypersons in exchange for mineral exploration licences.
Sabah Chief Minister Hajiji Noor has dismissed the allegations as an attempt to tarnish his administration, suggesting that the whistleblower may be working with parties who have vested interests.
Additionally, there are claims that the businessperson in question is part of a cartel seeking to monopolise mining in the state and had resorted to fraudulent tactics.
Political will is crucial
Contrasting the authorities’ swift action in other cases with their response to the Sabah issue, Arutchelvan emphasised the crucial role of political will in addressing alleged transgressions involving politicians.
“Justice is blind and swift for the ordinary citizen. But when it comes to politicians, the standard changes - evidence alone is often not enough, depending on which side of the political divide they belong to.
“This is nothing new. Our current prime minister and Pakatan Harapan have pointed this out many times in the past,” he added.
Recalling Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s remarks during his recent drive with visiting Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Arutchelvan reminded the Harapan chairperson that he is now in the driver’s seat of the nation.

“But he has spent years preparing for the role of driving the nation, with one of his key promises being the eradication of corruption to move us forward. I hope he stays true to this pledge.
“I sincerely hope that, in the end, neither his supporters nor Harapan’s will find themselves asking the same question: ‘How did we trust his driving?’” he added.
