It is now an issue of patriotism and Malay nationalism for the Umno people to cross over to PPBM. It is the sacred duty of the Malays in Umno to help strengthen PPBM. Not doing so would mean the DAP Chinese would succeed in destroying Tabung Haji, Felda and many of the other Malay-Muslim institutions.  THE CORRIDORS OF POWER

Lim Kit Siang, Ronnie Liu, Ramkarpal Singh, and many more DAP leaders (except for the very silent Tony Pua) have openly criticised PPBM’s move to absorb former Umno leaders. They have even called PPBM a ‘rubbish collector’.
But then, are not almost ALL the PPBM people former Umno people; or what DAP calls ‘rubbish’? So, what’s the difference? After all, PPBM’s strategy chief, Rais Hussin, did say he considers these Umno people as his ‘old friends’.
Is DAP Afraid PPBM Will Become Stronger? Asks PPBM Actually, they are not really ‘former’ Umno leaders. The negotiations for them to join PPBM starts when they are still in Umno but they are told they need to first resign from Umno and become ‘independents’, after which they can apply to join PPBM. Hence it would be seen as PPBM absorbing ‘independents’ and not PPBM ‘stealing’ Umno leaders. (It’s a matter of ego: PPBM does not want to be seen as desperate for MPs and ADUNs).
This is sort of like you want to marry someone else’s wife but you cannot do so while she is still married so she needs to first get divorced from her husband and become a ‘janda’ before you can marry her. But you already kowtim with her when she was still married to another man so technically the deal had already been made when she was someone else’s wife.

Kit Siang Upset Former Umno Leaders Joining Pakatan Harapan DAP’s concern is that PPBM may end up becoming the largest party in parliament. Currently, PKR, UMNO and DAP dominate parliament. Even GPS (Gabungan Parti Sarawak) and PAS have more seats than PPBM.
PPBM is more or less the level of Amanah and Warisan.
Hence Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is the prime minister at the pleasure of DAP and PKR. If Anwar Ibrahim can get Umno, GPS and Amanah to side with him (which is what he is working on even as you read this), then he can control 145 seats in parliament. Anwar needs 112 to gain the majority so even if he gets only half the Umno seats he is still on track, even if some in PKR (you know who) may sell him out.
With anything between 125 to 145 seats in parliament, Anwar can table a motion of no confidence against Mahathir and take over as prime minister in early 2019. Mahathir will not be prime minister for even one year, let alone two years or a full five-year term, as what most people suspect will happen unless Anwar can push him out.

Daim is telling the Umno people that Mahathir is losing control of the government and the only way to save the Malays against the DAP onslaught is for the Umno people to join PPBM Tun Daim Zainuddin has been speaking to the Umno people and told them that Mahathir is losing control of the government. DAP is very much in control and is attempting to destroy everything associated with the Malays and Islam. DAP is going to demolish Tabung Haji, Felda, Felcra, and many more. Lim Guan Eng is embarking on an asset-stripping exercise and will transfer anything of value to a SPV (special purpose vehicle). The only thing is this SPV will come under the direct control of the Minister of Finance.
By GE15 in 2023 or so, there will be nothing left. Everything that used to be owned by the Malays or Muslims would be under Chinese control, argued Daim. The only way to stop DAP would be for the Malays in Umno to join PPBM so that PPBM would become strong enough to stop this Chinese plan to destroy all the institutions belonging to the Malays — Tabung Haji being just one of the many targeted for attack.

Yes, that is the message Daim is sending the Umno people. And this is what motivates the Umno people to cross over to PPBM. And this, too, is why DAP is very upset that PPBM is absorbing the Umno MPs, ADUNs and division leaders. This is all about making PPBM strong so that the DAP Chinese can be kept in check.
