Last month, Police arrested 5 terrorists, 3 foreigners including Al Qaedaarrested woman, man from Sabah involved in terrorist financing2 months ago, Police detained eight terrorists in Perlis
comprising 7 foreigners, Malaysian
Their aim to establish centre promoting Salafi Jihadism Last July, Police arrested another 7 terrorists including 3 Indons, woman sending money to Abu Gomez, Msian terrorist in Syria
Police : since February 2013 - 400 terrorists arrested including 40 women
IGP stated 45 foreign terrorist fighters (FTFs) detained since 2018most of them ISIS-linked terrorists
current pattern of terrorist activities in M'sia startlingof concern influx of FTFs from various foreign countries
FTFs from Europe, US, Middle East, South Asia, East Asia, SEA
M'sia incubator for Isis, Al Qaeda, Abu Sayyaf, Fetullah Terrorist Organisation, Jammiatul Mujahideen, Lashkar-E-Taiba and other extremists
spread ideology to influence M'sians to declare war on own nationthey recruit locals based on false religious teachings declaring M'sian democratic system “toghut”, un-Islamic.
significant rise of women participation in terrorist activities
vigorous movement of terrorist in Msia indicates they no longer interested in activities outside M'sia
Another serious indication - rise in terrorist offences herevery high possibility terrorists launch attack in M'sia targeting public places and prominent people
Unfortunately calls by NGOs to abolish Sosma and Potabetween individual rights and rights of nation - which more important? Can we allow one person to destroy nation by killing ?
foolish to believe terrorists will not harm us terrorists are totally different breed of people
their ideology is their way of lifevery difficult to reform. classic example is Yazid Sufaat
The real hypocrites
Under Constitution, Msians enjoy fundamental liberties protection against retrospective criminal laws, repeated trialsequality, freedom of speech, assembly and association
can these liberties undermine security of this nation
believe in the rule of lawlaw must protect the peoplehuman rights is fundamental in any legal systemrule of law with accountability, just laws, open governmentaccessible and impartial dispute resolution
But for terrorists rule of law is irrelevant
Their belief system utterly shelves human rights (But) they rely on human rights to seek protectionThey don’t believe in democratic systemdeclare democratic system un-IslamicBut rely on same system to seek protection, justice. They are hypocrites.
calls to repeal Sosma, Pota need great attention look into consequences of repealing themThese legislations are key to manage terrorist threats in M'ysia
in Malaysia, we moving opposite direction important to have key tools like SOSMA, Pota give authority to govt to monitor, detain terrorists to prevent attacks in Malaysia
Independent body
powers provided by Sosma, Pota decisive for security forces to operate without fearcannot and should not tolerate anyone posing a threat to our national security These laws important to safeguard sovereignty of nationIf any attacks happen security agencies will be blamed
judges must be given free hand to determine welfare of detainees independent body needed to evaluate conditions of these detainees
Malaysia in new era
M'sians should not experience oppression by anyone
That will not be tolerated
But peace and security are paramount
govt should weigh peace and security against human rights
in UK, Europe people willing to sacrifice liberty with limitations
They realise importance of these laws to protect freedom
urging govt not to abolish our security laws
make improvements by consulting stakeholders
people who exercise laws need to be transparent, accountable
to avoid abusing power

My comments : Well said Paneir Selvam.
Basically Paneir is saying dont abolish the security laws like SOSMA, POTA etc. I fully agree. For the past 25 years I have fully supported the ISA. The ISA should never have been abolished.
The terrorism and violence has changed. They are now cross border or international, they kill for reasons that may not have anything to do with our country, they can hide behind legitimate political parties, they can even hide behind pejabat mufti, get funding from overseas and act through proxies.
Our Penal Code alone will not be able to stop them.
Without the special powers of our security laws the security of our country is at serious risk.
Any law is subject to abuse. Even without the ISA, there can still be abuse of the law. There is no guarantee at all that abolishing the ISA means no more abuse of power or no more abuse of the other laws that we have in the country, or worse still abuse through the law.
Paneir Selvam has missed one other law that actually helps create terrorist thinking - these are the 3,5,6 Laws (3 years jail, RM5000 fine, 6 years jail) for any Muslim who says or does anything about religion which the orthodox does NOT like.
They dont like girls wearing tight clothes they can arrest them and do a 3,5,6 on them.
Someone does not go to the mosque for three weeks in a row, they can 3,5,6 them.
Say something about religion they dont like, you can get hit with the 3,5,6.
If you are a Muslim and you care for dogs, you can get hit with 3,5,6.
These types of illogical and inhuman laws will breed the same thinking as these jihadi terrorists.
And now they want to make it the 355 Laws (30 years jail, RM100,000 fine, 100 strokes of the rotan) if you do not go to the mosque three weeks in a row, if you are a girl wearing tight clothes, if you are a Muslim who rears dogs and other things that they do not like.
This is Club of Doom.
I propose the following :
1. Tighten the SOSMA, POTA etc but with strong regulatory and monitoring conditions attached. Make the people who enforce these laws highly accountable.
2. Abolish the Sedition Act yesterday.
3. Abolish ALL the 3,5,6 Laws. This country has to move beyond being stupid.
4. Enact new laws which make it a serious crime for anyone to prevent another person from free speech. If a religious fellow says, 'You cannot speak about religion' then that person should be arrested, charged and thrown into jail, according to the new law.
The real issue here is STUPIDITY.
The people sometimes do not know they are stupid.
We have to move them beyond stupid.
