(Bernama pic)PETALING JAYA: The finance ministry is working with the road transport department (JPJ) to resolve technical issues related to the eligibility of citizens for the BUDI95 petrol subsidy programme before it is fully implemented on Tuesday
Deputy finance minister Lim Hui Ying said this followed several complaints from the public claiming that they were not listed as eligible recipients despite having a MyKad and a valid driving licence, Bernama reported.
Lim said the ministry took the matter seriously and gave an assurance the problem would be resolved before the full implementation of the BUDI95 programme.
Speaking after observing the implementation of BUDI95 for Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) recipients at a petrol station on Jalan Raja Uda in Butterworth today, she urged the public to check their eligibility at https://www.budimadani.gov.my.
Those who encounter problems should file a complaint or call the hotline at 1300-88-9595.
“As long as the person is an eligible Malaysian, they are 100% entitled to enjoy the benefits of BUDI95. There may be slight delays or technical glitches here and there, but we will ensure that these issues are resolved as soon as possible,” she said.
She said there was no need to rush because each eligible person had been set a limit of 300 litres a month.
The ministry has said that 8.1 million users had checked their eligibility through www.budimadani.gov.my since Sept 25.
BUDI95 will benefit 16 million Malaysians with MyKad and valid driving licences.
Finance minister II Amir Hamzah Azizan has also acknowledged that there had been minor technical complaints, mainly involving inactive driving licences, unreadable MyKad chips, and the use of old identity card numbers.
Amir said RM3.7 million worth of RON95 petrol was purchased by armed forces and police personnel at the subsidised price of RM1.99 per litre as of noon today since the launch of the BUDI95 initiative yesterday.
He said 200,000 STR recipients had also used the facility as of noon today, and the amount spent was being calculated. - FMT
