Pas Mp Anwar Hounds Dr M Daim S Families But Shields Ex Aide Farhash
PARLIAMENT | A PAS lawmaker has questioned the authorities’ alleged inaction against Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s former aide, Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak, over allegations of corruption.
Che Zulkifly Jusoh (PN-Besut) also accused Anwar and his administration of “selectively” cracking down on those who have amassed massive wealth.
He asserted that the prime minister appears to be more intent on going after his political rivals and their families than addressing similar allegations involving his allies.
“(Anwar) is chasing after (former prime minister) Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s children, asking them to return their assets, and even (former finance minister) Daim Zainuddin - who has already passed away - is still being pursued.
“But when it comes to the case involving Farhash - silence. We can tell who he is and what his connections to the prime minister are,” Zulkifly (above) said while debating the 13th Malaysia Plan in the Dewan Rakyat today.

He also pointed out that while Bloomberg had earlier reported allegations of the prime minister interfering to block an investigation into Farhash, to this day, the government has not filed a lawsuit against the news site.
Bloomberg’s report on Sept 26 last year detailed claims of political interference in MACC’s operations.
The article, which has since been investigated by police, cited sources claiming that Anwar had ordered MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki not to investigate Farhash over the latter’s purchase of shares in HeiTech Padu Bhd.
Sabah scandal
Last month, MalaysiaNow also linked Farhash to a mineral exploration licence scandal in Sabah, with the news portal uploading an audio recording allegedly showing that Chief Minister Hajiji Noor had voiced support for a company linked to Farhash.
Sabah Mineral Management Sdn Bhd’s (SMM) board, which Hajiji chairs, subsequently denied that any company linked to Farhash was granted a prospecting licence in the state.
Farhash also issued a denial, as well as a cease and desist letter against MalaysiaNow over its article detailing the allegations.
ADSEarlier this month, MalaysiaNow confirmed that it is the subject of a police investigation following a complaint lodged by SMM.
Warisan has since condemned the police investigation into MalaysiaNow, with its supreme council member Mudi Dubing expressing disappointment that the authorities were targeting the media instead of investigating the allegation.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s former aide, Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal MubarakMahathir, meanwhile, had lashed out at Anwar over the latter’s suggestion that the former’s sons return their wealth to the government if it was obtained through dubious or illegitimate means.
While Mahathir’s sons, Mokhzani and Mirzan, are understood to be sorting out legal matters with the MACC, the anti-graft agency is also actively identifying overseas assets owned by Daim’s family.
Double standards
Zulkifly also took a swipe at government lawmakers, accusing them of double standards for allegedly keeping mum over the death of Form One student Zara Qairina Mahathir despite having made “a huge noise” for years over the 2009 death of political aide Teoh Beng Hock.

Zara Qairina MahathirThe opposition MP claimed that even after Teoh’s case was marked as “no further action” by authorities, “that side” continued to dredge it up and express outrage but had “not a sound” to offer on Zara’s case.
However, MPs from both sides of the aisle have spoken up regarding Zara’s death, calling for transparent investigations and firm action against bullying incidents in educational institutions.
Earlier today, numerous government and opposition parliamentarians accepted a memorandum from a secretariat calling for justice for Zara.
The document also urged systemic changes to curb bullying cases in schools and ensure authorities’ proper handling of incidents.
Zara was found unconscious in a drain below her school dormitory in Papar on July 16 and died the following day at Queen Elizabeth Hospital I in Kota Kinabalu.
Her family has alleged that bullying may have contributed to her death. - Mkini
