Sunway Malls Brings A Niu Hope To Malaysians In Need
Sunway seeks to aid those worst hit by the flooding as well as B40 communitiesAll seven malls will be running initiatives to collect donations throughout this periodKuala Lumpur, 26 January 2021 – This festive season, Sunway Malls is working to ensure that no one is left behind by extending aid to those who need it most under its Sunway Malls ‘Niu’ Hope Charity initiative
As Malaysians gear up to celebrate the Lunar New Year next month, many are unfortunately left without a roof over their heads due to the worsening flood situation in states such as Pahang, Perak, Terengganu, Kelantan and Johor. For the next few foreseeable weeks, these families will have to find shelter at makeshift centres while the floodwaters recede and they can return to their homes
In the spirit of giving and #KitaSupportKita, Sunway Malls has risen above the tide to rally Malaysians in donating what they can to help these affected families. Throughout the month of January, with some continuing to February, Sunway Malls’ Flood Aid, in partnership with the Malaysian Red Crescent, have organised donation drives to accumulate necessary items to ease the lives of the 21,000 people in flood relief centres nationwide, as well as to support underprivileged families through the Lost Food Project
“Each new year represents a new beginning, and at Sunway Malls, the new year brings forth a renewed spirit to overcome each hurdle with tenacity and strength. We want to continue supporting those in need, and together with the generous and kind help of all Malaysians, we believe that we are able to effect good change and improve the lives of others in these trying times,” said HC Chan, CEO of Sunway Malls & Theme Parks
The items required for these donations include adult diapers, children diapers, sanitary pads, individually wrapped biscuits, mineral water, teabags, instant cup noodles, batik, light bath towels, disposable underwear, wet wipes and packet drinks, among others. Designated donation boxes are stationed throughout the participating malls, namely Sunway Pyramid, Putra Mall, Velocity Mall, Carnival Mall and Big Box and Giza Mall and members of the public can drop the items there
For members of the public who are unable to donate physically at the mall during the MCO, donations can be made through the Sunway Pals app with Sunway Pay. The public may opt from 3 different personal care packages in differing values, consisting of items such as diapers, wet wipes, shower gel and more. Upon donation, the items will be purchased and contributed to the cause
