PETALING JAYA: Police have urged the public to stop spreading a viral video clip of a mentally disabled man being assaulted by a group of men at a farmers’ market in Chukai, Terengganu.

He warned against spreading the video and making negative comments on the incident, saying netizens can be punished under the Communications and Multimedia Act for improper use of network facilities.
If convicted they could be fined up to RM50,000, jailed for up to a year, or both, he was quoted as saying.
Wan Muhammad said four people in connection with the incident have been arrested while three witnesses have given their statements to assist in the probe.
The latest arrest involved a man in his 30s, who was detained at 11.30pm last night after giving a statement at the district police headquarters.
The mentally disabled man was assaulted after his motorcycle collided into a stall at the farmers’ market, causing several items from one of the stalls to topple to the ground.
In the viral video, the victim was dragged, kicked and beaten before fried noodles were poured over his head. - FMT
