Stop Dividing Bersatu Over Old And New Leaders Says Wan Saiful
Wan Saiful Wan Jan says having former Umno and PKR leaders in Bersatu was a good thing as they would help make the party stronger.PETALING JAYA: Bersatu information chief Wan Saiful Wan Jan has urged party members not to be divided over having old and new leaders within the party.
He said having a mix of the old and new among the party’s current leadership and elected representatives should be seen as an asset, not a liability.
“Whether old or new, they’re all members of Bersatu. Don’t let anyone divide us, that’s a job for our enemies,” he said in a post on Facebook.
Wan Saiful was responding to members who had questioned the entry of elected representatives and members into the party after the last general election (GE14).

He gave Bersatu secretary-general Hamzah Zainudin and former PKR deputy president Azmin Ali, who won their seats in GE14 under Barisan Nasional (BN) and PKR, respectively, as examples of such leaders.
Wan Saiful explained that having these former Umno and PKR leaders in Bersatu was a good thing as they would help make the party stronger.
Bersatu is seen to be on shaky ground, with six of its MPs reportedly ready to opt out of defending their parliamentary seats in the next general election (GE15).
Utusan Malaysia reported that five of them quit Umno for Bersatu, after having won their seats on a BN ticket in GE14.
It identified the MPs as Shabudin Yahaya (Tasek Gelugor), Muslimin Yahaya (Sungai Besar), Abdul Rahim Bakri (Kudat), Fasiah Fakeh (Sabak Bernam), Azizah Dun (Beaufort) and Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal (Bukit Gantang).
When asked about it at a party event last night, Hamzah said he was not aware about reports that the six MPs no longer wished to defend their seats. - FMT
