The Coroner’s Court was told that two stolen items were found among the late Zara Qairina Mahathir’s belongings. NSTP FILE PICKOTA KINABALU: The Coroner's Court was told that two stolen items were found among the late Zara Qairina Mahathir's belongings.
The 18th witness on the stand said she had earlier heard from another dormmate about an incident where a calling card belonging to a junior classmate was found among Zara Qairina's things.
"The same dormmate who found the flag pins during a spot check was also the one who told her (18th witness) about the missing calling card," lawyers representing Zara Qairinah's family said.
The witness, who was one of Zara's dormmates, was among several students who conducted a spot check on her belongings when she was called to another dormitory unit by seniors on the night of July 15.
The witness confirmed that one of the dormmates had lost her wallet and had complained to her and another dormmate about the missing item, suspecting Zara Qairina "because Zara was close to her."
Around 3am on July 16, Zara Qairina was found unconsious at her school SMKA Tun Mustapha and pronounced dead the following day at Queen Elizabeth hospital.
Meanwhile, the 19th child witness testified that Zara Qairina was cheerful, friendly and helpful in class, though she sometimes fell asleep during lessons.
"They often chatted or went to the canteen together.
"The witness said their conversations were mostly about studies. Zara Qairina never complained of personal problems, stress, or showed signs of depression," said the witness, who was Zara Qairina's classmate.
