(Facebook pic)PETALING JAYA: A student staying in Zara Qairina Mahathir’s dormitory told the Kota Kinabalu coroner’s court today she had previously seen dried bloodstains in Zara’s diary
The girl, who is the 17th child witness and 26th overall in the inquest into the Form 1 student’s death, said she saw the bloodstains when Zara allowed her to read the diary, Utusan Malaysia reported.
She said Zara poured out her emotions about one of her schoolmates into the diary.
According to lawyer Rizwandean M Borhan, the witness also said that on July 15, several hours before Zara was found unconscious in a drain at her school’s hostel, she saw her sitting on the floor in front of her wardrobe.
She said she had never seen Zara in conflict with her schoolmates at SMKA Tun Datu Mustapha in Papar, or seen her shout, scream, cry, or be scolded by anyone, contradicting previous statements by other witnesses.
Previously, Ram Singh, the counsel for one of the teenagers charged with bullying Zara, said the sixth child witness claimed to have overheard a conversation between Zara and a senior student concerning allegations of theft.
He said the witness stated that she saw four more senior students enter the room, then heard someone speaking in a loud tone as if scolding Zara.
Ram said the witness then saw Zara leave the room crying, the last time the witness saw her that evening.
The witness in the proceedings today also said that earlier this year, Zara had shown her a scar on her arm in the shape of a barcode that she had made, but did not explain how she had done so.
Berita Harian previously reported lawyer Shahlan Jufri as saying the 13th child witness told the coroner’s court that several students at the hostel had cut “barcodes” into their arms with cutters.
Shahlan said it was apparently a trend among that batch of students, which the witness herself had followed.
However, Dr Janefer Voo, the medical officer at Queen Elizabeth Hospital who examined Zara’s body, had previously said she found no signs of such a mark on the girl.
The inquest continues. - FMT
