Statute Rome Kenyataan Mahasiswa Terhadap Respon Yb Teo Nie Ching

KEDUDUKAN 4 PENSYARAH DIKAJI : TEO NIE CHING JANGAN CABUL KEBEBASAN AKADEMIK Timbalan Menteri Pendidikan , YB Teo Nie Ching telah mengeluarkan kenyataan bahawa kedudukan empat pensyarah yang membuat pembentangan berkenaan Statut Rom akan dikaji.
Kami mengutuk sekeras kerasnya kenyataan Timbalan Menteri Pendidikan ini dan kami ingin memberi amaran keras kepada Kementerian Pendidikan supaya tidak mencabuli prinsip kebebasan akademik.
Kami membuat pendedahan kertas kerja tersebut supaya kertas kerja tersebut dapat dibincangkan dan diperdebatkan dalam semua lapisan masyarakat kerana kertas kerja tersebut yang telah diambil bulat bulat oleh Kerabat Diraja sebagai hujahan untuk menolak Statut Rom. Kertas kerja pensyarah pensyarah tersebut patut diperdebatkan dan pensyarah-pensyarah tersebut juga patut tampil mempertahankan hujah mereka.
Kami merasakan perdebatan ini harus berlaku kerana Kerajaan telah cuci tangan dengan alasan bahawa Rom Statut telah dimanipulasikan oleh sesetengah pihak sehingga timbul kekeliruan. Kerajaan tidak mengambil inisiatif untuk memperbetulkan kekeliruan tersebut dan “educate the public” tentang Statut Rom.
Kerajaan sepatutnya mengambil langkah untuk menangkis hujah hujah pensyarah tersebut dan memberikan pencerahan, bukannya mengambil tindakan ke atas mereka. Jika tindakan diambil ke atas pensyarah pensyarah ini, maka tiada bezanya Kerajaan dahulu dan sekarang.
Kami mendesak Kerajaan Malaysia untuk menghormati prinsip kebebasan akademik yang juga menjadi hala tuju utama Kementerian Pendidikan di bawah Dr Maszlee Malik.
Kami juga mendesak ke empat empat pensyarah tersebut untuk tampil memberi penjelasan secepat mungkin.
