Start Your Own Pas Airlines Dap Mp Scoffs At Call To Ban Alcohol On Mas
PARLIAMENT | A DAP lawmaker has poured cold water on PAS’ repeated call to ban alcohol on Malaysia Airlines, mockingly suggesting that the Islamist party instead start its own air service company.
Speaking in the Dewan Rakyat today, backbencher Lim Lip Eng (Harapan-Kepong) slammed the “undemocratic” proposal from the opposition party, highlighting that the option to consume alcoholic beverages is an individual right afforded to non-Muslims.
“Airlines from Muslim-majority countries, including those from the Arab world such as Emirates, Etihad Airways, and Gulf Air, also serve alcohol.
“To PAS - if you dislike it that much, I suggest you start your own airline, call it PAS Airlines. Let’s see how long it can survive before going bankrupt,” Lim jibed during his Budget 2026 debate.
ADSLast week, Hasnizan Harun (PN-Hulu Selangor) reiterated PAS’ appeal for the national flag carrier to cease serving alcohol on flights, arguing that Muslim flight attendants and customers are in an uncomfortable dilemma due to the matter.

“This is not about denying anyone's rights - it is about respecting the religion and sensitivities of the majority of Malaysians,” the PAS lawmaker had reportedly told the Dewan Rakyat.
In 2017, then-PAS Youth chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari provided a similar suggestion after a passenger, who was believed to be drunk, had entered the cockpit of a Malaysia Airlines Kuala Lumpur-bound flight, forcing the aircraft to turn back to Melbourne.
The previous year, Rayani Air, touted as Malaysia’s first fully certified halal airline, shuttered its operations after just five months, following management, safety, and security issues alongside pilot strikes and a lack of funding.
‘Probe Hadi, Marzuk’
On a separate matter, Lim urged authorities to investigate PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang’s (PN-Marang) claim that the party has not named its prime ministerial candidate out of fear that the individual could be sabotaged.
“Given the seriousness of this statement and its potential impact on the country’s image, the police and the MACC should record (Hadi’s) statement to identify the individuals or groups he is referring to as being involved in criminal offences.
“(Authorities should also) determine if (Hadi) is merely telling a fabricated tale to continue deceiving PAS supporters,” Lim added.

PAS president Abdul Hadi AwangHadi previously said “gold bars or drugs” could be planted in the vehicle of PAS’ prime minister candidate - if their identity is made known to the public - in an effort to prevent them from contesting for the post.
Lim’s fellow DAP MP, Howard Lee (Harapan-Ipoh Timor), also took aim at Ahmad Marzuk Shaary (PN-Pengkalan Chepa) over his controversial remarks likening Malaysia’s situation to Palestine.
Interjecting in Lim’s debate, Lee repeated his call for Perikatan Nasional’s leadership to state the coalition’s stance on Marzuk’s statement, which has been accused of being “seditious provocation”.
In response, Lim said the Communications Ministry should also investigate Marzuk’s claims, which were uploaded on his Facebook.
ADSMarzuk’s remarks on non-Muslims
During Sabri Azit’s (PN-Jerai) debate on the Supply Bill 2026, Lee again interjected to question the PAS lawmaker on his position on Marzuk’s assertions.
An evidently flustered Sabri affirmed that he “agrees” with Marzuk, but stressed that the agreement is not based on “a genocide angle”. Without clarifying his remark, Sabri expressed confidence that Marzuk will address the concerns later.
In his Oct 20 online post titled “Learning from the history of Palestine: Let us not repeat the same mistake,” Marzuk is said to have falsely portrayed Malaysia’s non-Muslim and non-bumiputera citizens as threats to Malay-Muslim interests.

PAS MP Ahmad Marzuk ShaaryThe post, which featured excerpts from his speech in Pengkalan Chepa, Kelantan, also showed him urging Muslims to learn from Palestine’s history, claiming that “signs of the same thing happening” could now be seen in Malaysia.
He alleged, among others, that since the economic sector is increasingly dominated by non-Muslims and non-bumiputera, major malls, key companies, and strategic lands have “long slipped from the grasp” of Muslims.
