PUTRAJAYA: Several Cabinet Ministers and deputy ministers from Umno have met Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, a day after the party general assembly passed a resolution on a no cooperation with Perikatan Nasional in the general election, say sources.
The group is said to have held a meeting with Muhyiddin at the Prime Minister's Office at 5.30pm on Monday (March 29).
The meeting is said to have taken place for about an hour.
While what exactly transpired at the meeting was unknown, it is believed to be related to the outcome of the Umno general assembly.
While sources confirmed there was such a meeting, they remained tight-lipped when asked what had happened and the outcome of the meeting.
Sources also declined to confirm who among the Umno ministers and deputy ministers attended the meeting.
However, Sinar Harian reported that one of those present at the meeting is Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
The news outlet also said the vehicles ferrying the ministers were seen to be leaving the building at about 6.45pm without talking to the press.
Others seen leaving the building were Energy and Natural Resources Minister Datuk Seri Dr Shamsul Anuar Nasarah, the MP for Lenggong.
The car carrying Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba, the MP for Tenggara, was also seen leaving the place.
The Umno general assembly over the weekend saw the party endorsing the decision not to work with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia during GE15.
This decision is not just by the supreme council but was also that of the party grassroots with 124 divisions wanting a breakup.
Muhyiddin is Perikatan chairman and Bersatu president.
The general-assembly also passed a motion to demand Perikatan to call for the general election as soon as the state of emergency is lifted on or before Aug 1.
Umno had also given its president and supreme council the mandate to withdraw support for the Perikatan government "at any time it deems fit". - Star
