Sorry All My Old Notes Taken By Ph Najib Tells Self Styled Antique Collector
PETALING JAYA: Former prime minister Najib Razak took a swipe at the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government today in what appears to be a light-hearted response to a spam message on social media enquiring about antique coins
The message was left as a comment by a user calling herself Jessica Smith on a post on his Facebook page
“I’m a Malaysia old money collector,” Smith said. “I buy duit lama like coins and paper Malaysia money. Do you have any one of these items available for sale???”To this, Najib responded: “Sorry Jessica, all my old notes in my house, which are more than 20 years old, have been seized by the PH government which they claim is 1MDB money even though 1MDB didn’t exist 20 years ago.”He was referring to a raid on his home in Taman Duta, Kuala Lumpur, in May last year which saw police forcing open a safe found to contain a small amount of old notes in foreign currency as well as his certificate of marriage to Rosmah Mansor
His spokesman said the safe was over 20 years old and had to be forced open by locksmiths as the key had gone missing
Najib is standing trial for 25 charges of abuse of power and money laundering over the transfer of RM2.28 billion, allegedly from state investment fund 1MDB
He also faces six charges of money laundering and criminal breach of trust in the transfer of RM42 million to his account from SRC International, a former unit of 1MDB
He is also accused of abusing his power as prime minister by giving government guarantees on SRC International’s RM4 billion loan from Retirement Fund Inc. - FMT
