Solve Basic Issues In Kelantan Before Pointing Fingers Pn Told
Kelantan Umno chief Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub says the coalition should not complain about the government’s performance when the state’s problems remain unresolved.
(FMT) – Kelantan Umno chief Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub has taken a swipe at Perikatan Nasional’s (PN) Mahkota by-election candidate, saying the coalition should focus on delivering its promises instead of complaining about the government’s performance.
He said despite ruling Kelantan for over three decades, PN had yet to resolve basic issues in the state such as clean water supply and drainage problems.
“PN has four states under its control. It has yet to solve Kelantan’s problems after 34 years.
“Don’t talk about flood mitigation when even issues of water supply and drainage remain unresolved,” the Umno Supreme Council member told reporters on the campaign trail for Barisan Nasional’s candidate, Syed Hussien Syed Abdullah.
He was responding to Haizan Jaafar’s comments on Kampung Bentong’s floods, which the PN candidate said remained unresolved despite efforts by the state government to tackle the issue.
Jazlan also criticised PN for its unfulfilled promises from previous election campaigns, citing the incomplete construction of a bus terminal in Kota Bharu as an example.
“(Promises in) manifesto after manifesto. If you want to campaign, do it properly. The people are now aware of these empty promises,” he told reporters.
The Mahkota by-election will be held on Sept 28, with early voting set for Sept 24.
The by-election will see a straight fight between Haizan and Syed Hussien.
