Singapore S True Colours Exposed By Death Penalty Case
Nagaenthran K Dharmalingam’s case exposes the real state of Singapore state.
It exposes the real truth about how it runs the country and why people there live in fear, rather than live freely. It exposes that human rights and human lives have no value if you are poor.
Singapore's court registry had fixed 2.30pm yesterday to hear Nagaenthran's appeal against his death sentence for a drug trafficking conviction, as well as hear a new application for a psychiatric assessment of his deteriorating mental state.
The Singapore system has proven again that it has zero tolerance for those who dissent.
Many people in Malaysia glorify Singapore as a role model. The attempt to rush to hang a drug mule with mental health issues is disgraceful and shocking.
While capital punishment itself is an issue, but rushing to kill a mentally challenged human being is beyond rationality.
In recent weeks there were even TikToc showing how former prime minister Lee Kuan Yew suppressed the unions and opposition in Singapore when he was in power.
Lee was an evil dictator who used repression laws and ISA to suppress dissent. Many people were jailed and suffered.

Tax heaven for the rich and powerful
In the 80s, people used to debate as to who is the biggest violator of human rights – Dr Mahathir Mohamad or Lee? Looks like this arrogant zero tolerance for dissent is carried on as a mantra by every Singapore PM to show how successful Singapore is.
Singapore has only developed its physical ability but mentally, Singapore is a sick nation.
Many people glorify Singapore as a clean, anti-corruption nation, not forgetting that Singapore’s corruption is in the premier league – that is offshore accounts and tax heaven for the rich and powerful to hide their wealth.
It is sad that many people like to compare Malaysia with Singapore. They talk highly about Singapore’s discipline and administration.
The truth is, the most elementary aspect of being human is being free and that freedom has no place in Singapore.
If one thing this Nagaenthran episode has taught us, it exposes the true inner outlook of Singapore as an authoritarian state and its repressive system.
Finally, Singapore’s true colour is exposed. - Mkini
