Arau MP Shahidan Kassim says he will submit a motion for Bayan Baru MP Sim Tze Tzin to be referred to the Dewan Rakyat’s privileges committee if he does not apologise.KUALA LUMPUR: Shahidan Kassim (PN-Arau) today urged Sim Tze Tzin (PH-Bayan Baru) to apologise for a social media post where he had described polygamy as a “PAS teaching”.
While Sim later deleted the X post made yesterday, Shahidan maintained that he should retract his statement and apologise, failing which he would submit a motion for the PKR man to be referred to the Dewan Rakyat’s privileges committee.
“Even though he has deleted (the posting), he should apologise for making the statement.
“Or else, I will submit a motion (against him). I ask him to retract his statement saying that polygamy is PAS’s teaching,” Shahidan said in the Dewan Rakyat.
Sim had posted the tweet in a dig at PAS for protesting against concerts by British band Coldplay, singer Billie Eilish, Korean pop group Blackpink and Bollywood stars.
In the post, he said PAS’s “teachings” were that Coldplay, Eilish, Blackpink and Bollywood concerts were not allowed, but that polygamy was permitted.
PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man had also slammed Sim over his post, accusing the PKR MP of repeatedly interfering in Islamic affairs.
The Kubang Kerian MP was also quoted by Astro Awani as calling for action to be taken against Sim.
Yesterday, Tuan Ibrahim said PAS had no objection to the hosting of concerts in Malaysia but only opposed the promotion of values that contradict the nation’s policies. - FMT
