Shafie Says He Is Ready To Fight Any Bid To Topple His Sabah Govt

KOTA KINABALU: Parti Warisan Sabah president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal is ready to take on any attempt to topple his government
He warned his opponents not to create chaos at the expense of public order and peace
“Don’t turn the state upside down. You want to create chaos, you want to fight? I’ll fight you guys, ” he said
Shafie said that the Warisan-led state government holds 47 of the 65 seats in the assembly and prepared to face any enticement and threats by those trying to grab power in Sabah
“We still have the majority. What tools will they be using? We can’t stop them as politicians, they have a lot of money to buy. So they can entice our people with money and posts, but don’t tell me that the MACC won’t notice, ” he said
He said he was aware that many of his people were facing harassment but was confident that they will not buckle under pressure
Speaking to reporters after receiving facemasks and sanitizers for students donated by the Chinese government, he said he was aware of attempts to “buy” assemblymen and MPs
“We are solid together, ” he said
On the graft investigations into his Cabinet minister Datuk Peter Anthony, he said the timing was suspicious but he would allow the law to run its course
However, he said that he wondered what had happened to the many “blatant cases in the past” like the millions of ringgit recovered from the state water department
Over the past few weeks, the Warisan-led state government has been faced with continuous talk on social media of imminent crossovers of its assemblymen and parliamentarians with Perikatan Nasional taking over the Federal Government
So far all of its assemblymen and nine MPs have denied it
He hoped that everyone would focus on the Covid-19 pandemic and economic issues for the wellbeing of the people and not worry about political issues. - Star
