Shafie S Presser Turns Into Tea Party Amid Coup Plot Speculation

In a sudden turn of events, the press conference called by Warisan president Shafie Apdal earlier today amid talk of a coup plot to oust the GRS-led Sabah government and Chief Minister Hajiji Noor, has been cancelled.
Oriental Daily reported that local journalists who were informed about the special media conference to be held at a hotel in Kota Kinabalu at 4.30pm were later told about the cancellation of the event at 6.45pm.
Prior to this, several Warisan representatives were spotted at the scene while food and beverage were served to individuals who appeared at the event.
The press conference then became a tea party, reported Oriental Daily.
Speculation had been rife that Sabah BN, which is part of the state government together with other parties, decided to switch camps and support Shafie's party.

Support for Hajiji
Earlier today, all state assemblypersons from Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) and Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (Star) reiterated their support for Hajiji to continue leading the state.
Sabah Chief Minister Hajiji NoorIn a joint statement, seven Pakatan Harapan state assemblypersons said they did not give any statutory declarations of support for any parties after 2020.
Yesterday, GRS secretary-general Masidi Manjun said the coalition was prepared to prove that Hajiji has the support of the majority of the assemblypersons.
The Sabah legislative assembly has 79 assemblypersons - 73 elected and six appointed.
The Sabah government now has the support of 59 assemblypersons, comprising 29 from GRS, BN (17), Harapan (seven), Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (three), Parti Bangsa Malaysia (one), Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah (one), and Independent (one).
