Settlement On Temple Land Tussle To Be Announced Tomorrow Selangor Mb
A press conference will be held at the Dewan Annex Negeri Selangor in Shah Alam tomorrow to announce that a settlement on issues related to the Seafield Sri Maha Mariamman temple incident has been agreed upon after discussions with the state government
Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari said that he met Minister in the Prime Minister's Department P Waythamoorthy and Deputy Rural Development Minister R Sivarasa to discuss ways to resolve the issues that sparked two days of rioting near the temple grounds
Amirudin added that Selangor exco V Ganabatirau and Sentosa assemblyperson G Gunaraj were also involved in the discussion
In a statement today, the menteri besar urged all parties not to disturb public order or cause anxiety around the temple
"I have also been informed of the progress of firefighter Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim's recovery. Let's continue praying that God Almighty will heal him, " he said in a statement here today
He said based on the outcome of the Selangor Security Council meeting yesterday, the police had tightened security control to ensure public order
"The Selangor government is committed to abide by the laws, ensure public order and seek the best solution for this issue," he said
The riot at the temple compound started about 2am on Monday, when two groups clashed, which led to 23 vehicles being burned outside the temple grounds
Another incident happened later in the morning, when a mob burnt two vehicles on the Damansara-Puchong Highway, another car outside the temple premises and damaged a fire engine
Some of the rioters had also caused damage to a building belonging to a developer which was located two kilometres from the temple
Police have arrested 21 individuals so far to assist in the investigation
