Recently, a political influencer stirred up quite a controversy by posting a video that alleged a Chinese school in Perak sang the Negaraku anthem in a different language. This event attracted attention, particularly because DAP Socialist Youth Chief Woo Kah Leong was also present.
DAP MP Syerleena Rashid quickly responded to the backlash, criticizing those who seem determined to cast DAP in a negative light. “It’s pathetic and shameful to see this kind of obsession,” she stated.

In her TikTok video, Syerleena clarified that what actually took place was that attendees were singing the Perak anthem, which, by the way, has a melody that resembles the Negaraku. “Historically, Negaraku was adapted from the same tune. And yes, they were singing it in Bahasa Malaysia,” she explained.
“Some individuals are so caught up with demonizing anything even slightly attached to DAP. It’s disheartening that innocent children are targeted in this political strife,” she added.

Syerleena didn’t hold back, emphasizing that this incident wasn’t an honest mistake but rather a “deliberate attempt to stir up negativity” simply because it happened at a Chinese school. Isn’t it wild how some folks can twist facts just to fit their agenda?
As she further articulated, “It’s time Malaysians reject this toxic culture.” She criticized the opposition, pointing out that they lack “real solutions” and instead focus on the same old issues related to race, religion, and royalty.

Ultimately, she urged her fellow Malaysians to stop fueling this toxic political environment and to stand together in saying “enough is enough.” It really is time we move past this negativity and focus on making real changes in our society.
