Selangor To Send 150 Volunteers To Cac Sets Up Home Assessment
Selangor will send 150 volunteers to assist the operation of Covid-19 Assessment Centre (CAC) in the state, particularly the "overcrowded" centre at Malawati Stadium in Shah Alam.
They consist of civil servants, local government staff, Selangor Health Care (SelCare) and medical students from private universities, said Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari.
He said this was among the decision made by the Selangor Security Council today to ensure a smooth process at the CAC.
"The addition of these volunteers will assist in the management and assessment of Covid-19 patients.
"The state government agreed to establish a 'call centre' that will be handled by the medical volunteers. This can reduce the workload at the CAC and allow assessment for the patients at home or 'home assessment'.
"Statistics found that 48 percent of the visitors went to CAC Stadium Malawati to have their quarantine bracelet removed after completing their home quarantine. So, starting next week, the state government will set up a special counter for this purpose," Amirudin said in a statement today.

Besides easing the congestion at CAC Malawati Stadium, he said this may reduce the risk of transmission in this group of individuals.
A video clip circulated on social media showed a long queue outside Stadium Malawati, which has been operating as CAC since Feb 8 with a capacity to assess between 1,000 and 1,200 patients daily.
The third initiative is that the doctors in private clinics and health facilities will be allowed to implement the home surveillance orders (HSO).
Currently, individuals who have undergone home surveillance need to have their quarantine bracelet put on and removed at the CAC.
"In Selangor, a total of 65 (private) general practitioners are given permission to implement this process," Amirudin said.
Meanwhile, he said Selangor Health Department will increase the capacity of intensive care unit (ICU) beds to 300 for Covid-19 patients.
"The Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (Maeps) will have an additional 1,300 beds," he said. - Mkini
