Selangor Ph Won T Give Up Seats To Bn Says Amanah Man
Amanah central committee member Sany Hamzan expects the Selangor state elections to be held in June, with PH defending all its seats.HULU LANGAT: Selangor Pakatan Harapan will defend all the 40 state seats it won in the 2018 general election even though there is now an alliance with Barisan Nasional, an Amanah leader said.
Sany Hamzan, an Amanah central leadership committee member, said he was made to understand that, for now, PH would not be making way for BN in constituencies won in 2018.
“The seats that we will have to discuss (with BN) are those held by Perikatan Nasional,” he told FMT. These are six won by Bersatu and one by PAS.
Sany, who is Taman Templer assemblyman, said: “We need a win-win situation for all when it comes to seat negotiations and there will be many factors to consider, such as machinery, money, and candidates.”
He said prior to the unity government being formed, member parties of PH were already negotiating seat allocations.
On the perception that Amanah was the weakest link in PH, Sany said the party could win more if it was given more seats to contest.
“We need mixed seats (with voters of different races) because we know PH has an advantage in these seats. But we understand that we can’t demand much because we are a new party, unlike PKR and DAP.”
Sany expects the state assembly to be most likely dissolved in May, with elections held in June.
