Saying Dr M Didn T Help Malays Anwar Implicates Azizah Too

By saying Dr Mahathir Mohamad failed to help the Malays, opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim has implicated PKR advisory council chairperson Wan Azizah Wan Ibrahim, said Khairuddin Abu Hassan.
The Federal Territories Pejuang chief reminded PKR president Anwar that Wan Azizah (above, left) was Mahathir’s deputy when the latter helmed the Pakatan Harapan federal government.
“Anwar should not forget, when Mahathir led the Harapan government for 22 months, Wan Azizah held the position of deputy prime minister.
“If Anwar says Mahathir failed, this means his wife and all Malay leaders in Harapan also failed, including himself as the key leader of the Harapan party,” Khairuddin said.
He said this in response to Anwar’s rejection of Gerakan Tanah Air (GTA) which was formed yesterday.
A coalition of Malay groups, GTA named Mahathir as its chairperson. Their aims include fighting Umno in the next election and to address poverty in the Malay community.
Khairuddin called Anwar an “emotional” politician who is jealous of Mahathir’s abilities and for being looked up to by the people.
“What has Anwar contributed to the Malays when he was the deputy prime minister? He never left any legacy.
“There will be political chaos as long as Anwar remains in the political landscape,” he said.
Khairuddin said Mahathir’s time at the country’s helm, from 1981 to 2003 and 2018 to 2020, resulted in the welfare of the Malays being well-supported.
“Mahathir himself was an institution that was looked up to by the world and he is a symbol of Malay success all over the world until today.
“The welfare of the Malays was well taken care of under the golden era of Mahathir's leadership. The dignity of the Malays was at the highest level when he governed the country,” he said.
Anwar, who was rejecting the formation of GTA yesterday, said Mahathir had 22 months to help the Malay-Muslim community during Harapan’s administration.
