Noh’s use of such expletives in the house shows that he lacks decorum and respect for the speaker, fellow MPs and women MPs, she said in a statement today
Kasthuri, who is also a member of the parliamentary special select committee for human rights and gender equality, said what had made matters worse was that other BN MPs had yelled in support of Noh’s use of such words that are so insulting to women
On Wednesday, in a war of words in the Dewan Rakyat, Noh had lost his cool while debating the home ministry’s committee stage of the 2020 Budget. His target then was Jelutong MP RSN Rayer
Kasthuri Patto.When he was confronted later by Bukit Gelugor MP Ramkarpal Singh, Noh claimed he was not aware that he had used such profanities
“He appeared unrepentant and recalcitrant in his behaviour
“He did not even make an attempt to apologise to the house and to the members there
“Instead, he behaved like a spoilt child with a nasty, uncontrollable temper,” Kasthuri added
FMT reported that when questioned by speaker Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof if he had used the obscene “P” word, Noh had replied: “If I said it, maybe I was not aware
“I re-watched the video, and before I said the word you want me to retract, Jelutong was screaming at me, ‘stupid, stupid’. I was speaking then
“He (Rayer) got up and immediately called me ‘stupid’. So I don’t know what I said,” the former minister added
Noh said the Dewan Rakyat had been tarnished by Rayer’s actions
Noh said he was prepared to retract the word if the speaker would be firm in the future and kick Rayer out of the Dewan Rakyat if he failed to adhere to the rules
Ariff ruled that Noh had in fact uttered the profanity, and ordered both him and Rayer to retract their statements
Ariff then said if MPs refused to retract unparliamentary words such as “bodoh” and “stupid”, he would have them booted out of the hall. - FMT
