Yong told those who attended his birthday celebration at the party’s headquarters today he had “slept very well”, Borneo Post reported.
“A clear conscience is the best pillow,” he was quoted as saying, likening peace of mind to the softest cushion that allowed one to sleep soundly.
He said SAPP will announce its plans after its Supreme Council meeting tomorrow.
Yesterday, GRS confirmed that Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR) and SAPP have left the coalition.
GRS secretary-general Masidi Manjun said the decision by the two parties to leave the ruling coalition followed nearly two hours of discussions at its presidential council meeting on Wednesday night.
At the meeting, STAR and SAPP had insisted on contesting under their respective banners in the state election, particularly fielding candidates against Pakatan Harapan.
Masidi said GRS was, however, firm that the pact reached with PH must be respected.
SAPP joined GRS after quitting Perikatan Nasional in 2024 whenr the opposition coalition decided to contest in the state polls.
Yong had said then that PN’s decision conflicted with SAPP’s long-standing policy, which calls for all 73 state constituencies to be contested solely by local parties. - FMT
