Sanusi Visited The Location Of Suspected Illegal Mining
Caretaker Kedah menteri besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has been urged to explain his visit to Bukit Enggang Forest Reserve, Sik, on Feb 19, which is believed to be a location where illegal mining activities of rare earth elements (REE) were conducted.
Home Affairs Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail wanted an explanation following the disclosure of several photographs of the alleged visit.
"... actually, there has already been a visit, (based on) the photos that were taken on Feb 19, which means as early as February this year, the Kedah menteri besar had visited and witnessed the theft (of REE), he saw for himself the destruction of the area, how the mining was done intensively, involving such a large area.
"… but from that day on, no serious action was taken… he did not just leave and do nothing, (but) he continued to deny that he had information about this incident," he said at a press conference in Jitra today.
Saifuddin (above) said the situation raised serious concerns about the issue of transparency and accountability of the leader.
He also questioned the lack of investigation papers opened related to the illegal mining activities despite having the Kedah Land and Mine’s Office director (Md Shumaime Abdul Rahmah) as a member of the Menteri Besar Incorporated board of advisors.
"... he (Md Shumaime) is also a member of the state Mineral Resources Committee which is the authority responsible for investigating matters related to the Mineral (Kedah) Enactment 2004... the effects of illegal mining and REE theft go beyond environmental concerns.
"… it has a huge economic risk. It is important that those entrusted with the responsibility of upholding the law take decisive action to protect natural resources," he said.
Saifuddin claimed that Sanusi knew all operations related to REE in the Bukit Enggang Forest Reserve, urging the caretaker menteri besar to explain in detail including the involvement of a Chinese national who has now disappeared.- Bernama
If I vote for PN/PAS, can't I wear shorts?
"If I vote for you, will this place become like Kedah, where I can't wear shorts?" This was the question posed by a Chinese woman to Andrew Teow, the Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate for the Sungai Puyu state seat in Penang, today.
According to China Press, the incident happened during Teow's campaigning at a market in Butterworth. Answering the question, Teow, who's representing the PAS Non-Muslim Supporters Wing (DHPP), assured the woman that she need not worry about the Islamist party.
"Remarks about banning gambling and restricting freedom of clothing are slanders thrown by DAP toward PAS," Teow reportedly said.
The woman was probably referring to the case where a 35-year-old female shopowner was issued a compound for wearing shorts on June 25, in Kota Bharu, Kelantan. There are no reports of similar incidents in Kedah, which is also led by PAS.
Teow admitted that he is often asked similar questions in his campaign trail, but said he always calmly answers them.Teow is one of the three Chinese candidates who will be representing PAS in Penang, in the Aug 12 state election.
Asked about the response he garnered on day six of campaigning, Teow claimed he is confident of getting 100 percent of Chinese support. The 39-year-old used to be a spokesperson for the Gerakan Youth wing, before joining PKR splinter party Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM). He ultimately ended up in PAS.
Teow will be facing Pakatan Harapan's Phee Syn Tze, who is also the daughter of Sungai Puyu state seat incumbent Phee Boon Poh. - mk
If I vote for you (PN-GERAKAN)- can male and female sit next to each other when going to cinema to be watch a movie ? Will we need to line up separately ( Male / Female ) when paying for groceries at supermarkets? Sure or not - can wear shorts in public ? Can drink liquor or not in coffee shops ? Can buy pork or not in markets ? Can buy 4D or not on betting games ? You sure or not when your President GERAKAN Party is already like a nice nice boy when asked to leave a PAS ceramah recently. Your no 1 already scared - you think you got power to defend or not ? Unlikely lah - very unlikely lah you can defend the Chinese. Like that also you cannot faham - how to vote you in? - TourchLight
Teow is just saying for the sake of saying but cannot guarantee that it won't happen in future. A good case was 4D shops which was allowed in Kedah during BN rule. All the 4D shops were banned when PAS came to rule in Kedah. There is nothing Gerakan can do anything about unfair treatment to the NM if PAS succeed in ruling Penang. Just look at Gerakan President Dominic and the shame he has to endure yesterday when he tried to go on stage. Penang Lang knows what's best for them. Gerakan has gone with wind. - OCT
Ask him if he agree with Sanusi and Hadi saying Chinese is the most corrupt people in Malaysia. It doesn't matter how he answer the question about the shorts, the this that matter the most is why the lady will ask such question in the first place.Lastly, ask him to compare Kelantan and Penang. Do you see Penang people going to Kelantan to look for work? - Noobmaster69
cheers.
