Sanusi Slams Ph Kedah For Rehashing Old Issues Based On Cybertroopers Claims

KEDAH Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has criticised Pakatan Harapan (PH) opposition assemblymen for repeatedly raising issues that he said had long been clarified, particularly regarding mega projects yet to materialise, such as the Sungai Petani racetrack and the Kulim International Airport (KXP).
“They keep picking up whatever PH’s cyber troopers keep talking about… the racetrack, KXP.
“Let me tell you, the racetrack they keep repeating was actually a Barisan Nasional (BN) project from 2013, and it was in their manifesto to build it in Sungai Petani,” he said during his winding-up speech at the Kedah State Legislative Assembly sitting on Thursday (Nov 13).
Sanusi said the racetrack project was originally a BN initiative from 2013, with RM30mil allocated. He claimed the previous PH-led state government spent RM10mil on land matters for a site still under private ownership, a move he said contravened government spending rules.
“Whoever feels like it, go and check whether it’s true or not,” he said, regarding the role of PH in the project.
He added that his administration is continuing the project through proper procedures despite complications inherited from the past, noting that costs have risen to RM73mil after PH pushed for a higher-specification track.
“The way they handled it caused the government to be tied down. I could have just washed my hands off it — returned the remaining RM20mil allocation — but I didn’t want to do that.
“I want to fix the process and, if possible, turn that land into state land so that the previous spending becomes legitimate.”
Sanusi also refuted accusations that the state government had treated Chinese and Tamil vernacular schools unfairly.
He said allocations for SJKC and SJKT actually totalled RM400,000, exceeding the initially stated RM300,000, while religious schools received proportional funding due to their larger numbers.
He stressed that assistance for SJKC and SJKT began under former MB Tan Sri Azizan Abdul Razak and continues today, reflecting the state’s commitment to inclusive education. — Focus Malaysia
