Sanusi Claims Federal Govt Barred Him From Its Events Minister Puzzled
Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil has expressed surprise over the claim by Kedah Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor that he (Sanusi) has been barred from attending events organised by the federal government.
"I am here in Kedah in my capacity as the communications and digital minister, and everyone, all the MPs, and state assemblypersons are invited to my programmes.
"In fact, I am here with a representative of the Padang Terap MP (Nurul Amin Hamid of PAS)," Fahmi told reporters at the event where he officiated the Fixed Broadband Unity Package at Dewan Persatuan Penduduk Taman Sri Wang in Sungai Petani, Kedah.
"I do not know what he means," he added when asked about the claim by Sanusi (above) that the federal government had made a decision not to invite him to such events.
Earlier today, Sanusi made the claim on social media that he has been barred from attending federal government events.
"The 10th prime minister’s latest cabinet decision is to prevent the Kedah menteri besar from any federal government events, including Lima (the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace exhibition) in Langkawi.
"What to do?" Sanusi said in a brief Facebook post today.
Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi FadzilLast Saturday, PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man announced Sanusi's appointment as PN election director for the six state elections expected to take place by August.
On Dec 13 last year, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim filed a defamation suit (in his personal capacity) against Sanusi over an election campaign speech in the Tambun parliamentary constituency on Nov 13.
Previously, the lawyers for Anwar issued a letter of demand seeking reparations from Sanusi for allegedly defaming Anwar, who is PKR president, through his (Sanusi's) speeches in the constituency while stumping for Perikatan Nasional candidate Ahmad Faizal Azumu.
According to a copy of the suit's statement of claim, Anwar contended the allegedly defamatory statement contained the allegation was that he "out of akhlak (morals)", among other allegations.
Anwar contended that the statement was slanderous, false and disparaging to him, and implied that he was not a good Muslim and abused his power in his political party to obtain a royal pardon. - Mkini
