The raid at 2.40pm yesterday was carried out following intelligence gathered by Kota Kinabalu police's Anti-Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zaidi Abdullah said police detained two men, aged 30 and 32, during the raid.
The police found three plastic packs containing clear crystals, believed to be syabu, weighing an estimated 3,019.25 grams.
"All the drugs were packed neatly in Chinese tea plastics with the words 'Tie Guan Yin'.
"Police also seized vehicles - a Ford Raptor and Isuzu D-Max pickup truck - along with four cell phones believed to be used for drug transactions," he said during a press conference at the police headquarters here.
Also confiscated were a Toyota Land Cruiser, a branded watch and jewelry, valued at almost RM600,00 in total.
Mohd Zaidi said the duo, who did not have permanent jobs, were masterminds of a cross-border drug trafficking syndicate.
He said upon questioning, one of the suspects admitted that they obtained their drug supplies from the peninsular.
The drugs would have been able to cater to 15,000 addicts in the local market.
Both suspects did not have any criminal records. One of them tested positive for drug use.
Mohd Zaidi said further investigations are being carried out in accordance with Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act (ADB) 1952 and Section 15 (1) (a) of the same act.
The act, upon conviction, provides for the death penalty. - NST
