Rtd 20k Commercial Vehicles Now Fitted With Speed Limitation Devices

The number of commercial vehicles fitted with speed limitation devices (SLD) has increased to 20,000 since the first phase of enforcement began on Oct 1.
Road Transport Department director-general Aedy Fadly Ramli said this statistic reflects growing awareness among commercial vehicle operators about safety compliance, especially after the enforcement operations.
"Following the operations, awareness among vehicle operators has surged dramatically.
"The number of vehicles coming forward for verification rose from 3,000 to 20,000 in just the first 10 days of enforcement," he told a media conference after the Ops Khas Selangor RTD at the Banting Enforcement Station last night.
Aedy noted that while 4,012 vehicles had been issued notices for lacking an SLD, 20,000 operators had already completed the verification process.
Road Transport Department director-general Aedy Fadly RamliHe called this a positive sign of increased compliance with the directive to ensure road safety standards.
"This progress reflects the success of RTD's ongoing outreach and advocacy efforts, in addition to the large-scale SLD enforcement operations nationwide," he said.
However, he warned that fines and further investigations would be pursued for operators failing to comply, including referral to the Land Public Transport Agency for follow-up action.
"The installation and full functionality of SLDs are mandatory for commercial vehicles manufactured from 2015 onwards.
"Failure to comply will result in a notice 114, requiring operators to attend within 10 days for verification and submit the necessary certificate." he added.
Earlier, Aedy, with RTD’s senior enforcement director Kifli Ma Hassan and Selangor director Azrin Borhan, took part in the operation from 8pm to midnight.
