Rm95m In Mitra Funds Disbursed For 11 Programmes This Year
The Malaysian Indian Transformation Unit (Mitra) has disbursed RM95,482,075 for the implementation of 11 programmes under the Malaysian Indian Community Socio-economic Development Programme out of RM100 million allocated this year.
Mitra Special Task Force Committee chairperson P Prabakaran said all the programmes focused on efforts to empower the socioeconomics of the Indian community in the country.
He said the programmes included the GDL Licence Assistance amounting to RM1.5 million, the Ec-Council Cyber Security Professional Certificate Training and Placement (RM3.4 million), Stock Market Investment and Trading (RM3.05 million) and the Malaysia-China Youth TVET Training (RM3 million).
“Other programmes include the Malaysian Indian Skills Initiative (RM10 million), the Malaysian Indian Community Entrepreneurship Programme (RM12,326,400), the Private Kindergarten Early Education Subsidy (RM10 million) and the Early Admission Assistance Programme for IPT Mitra or IPT 4.0 Mitra (RM25 million).
“Also the Mitra Dialysis Subsidy Assistance Programme worth RM8 million, the Mitra Sinar Cahaya Assistance Programme (RM15.5 million) and the Cyber Security Awareness Programme for Indian Students (RM3,705,675),” he said when met after an engagement session on the grant in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
ADSPrabakaran said plans are being made to utilise the remaining RM4,517,925.
He said Mitra hoped to be allocated RM300 million next year.
On the engagement session yesterday, which was attended by more than 300 people, he said, it provided an opportunity for stakeholders, including NGOs and related companies, to obtain information and share views with Mitra to further improve the socioeconomics of the Indian community.
ADSHe said the application for the Mitra grant is open from Oct 15 to Nov 14.
Prabakaran also announced the appointment of Sentosa assemblyperson G Gunarajah as Selangor Mitra Special Task Force Committee coordinator and Kuala Lumpur City Hall Advisory Board member Jayakumaran R Muniandy as Kuala Lumpur Mitra Special Task Force Committee coordinator.
