Rm500 000 Fine Or Jail For 3r Violations Warns Fahmi

THE public is advised to exercise caution before making any statements on social media platforms, particularly during the Ayer Kuning State Assembly by-election campaign period.
Communications Minister, Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, said users are also urged to avoid making statements that touch on 3R issues to prevent enforcement action.
He stated that individuals identified as committing such acts could face fines of up to RM500,000 or imprisonment if found guilty.
So far, no complaints have been lodged on the matter, but he did not rule out the possibility of such incidents occurring as campaigning intensifies in the coming week.
“We are actively monitoring, and if any party raises 3R issues and the authorities are convinced that a breach has occurred, firm action will be taken,” he said.
“I urge those intending to campaign to avoid playing up 3R issues or reposting existing content,” Fahmi added.
Meanwhile, Fahmi, who is also the spokesperson for the Unity Government, advised Cabinet members to comply with the ban on announcing government projects during the election period.
“All parties must comply. We want a fair contest,” he said.
On a separate note, he also confirmed that he would only be contesting for a seat on the Central Leadership Council (MPP) in the upcoming PKR elections scheduled for this May.
According to Fahmi, he has visited several states and discussed with many leaders.
After assessing the needs and giving the matter thorough consideration, he have decided to contest for a position on the MPP.
“My aim is to strengthen the party and bring a new lease of life to the MPP leadership. God willing, I will work with fellow colleagues to run a healthy campaign and showcase a new style of leadership,” he said.
“This is important as it is this leadership that will carry the party, together with our partners in the Unity Government, into the 16th General Election,” he continued.
The PKR elections for division-level posts, Women’s Wing, and Youth Wing (AMK) began on 11 April and will run until 20 April.
Meanwhile, elections for positions in the Central Leadership Council (MPP), Central Women’s Leadership Council (MPWP), and Central Youth Leadership Council (MPAMKP) are scheduled for 24 May. — Foccus Malaysia
