Rm42m Remittance Former Jho Low Staffer Points Finger At Najib S Ex Aide
NAJIB TRIAL | A witness in the SRC International trial today insisted that she was instructed to make transfers totalling RM42 million into the accounts of former premier Najib Abdul Razak by his former aide, the late Azlin Alias
Ung Su Ling, the former CEO of Yayasan Rakyat 1Malaysia (YR1M), repeatedly dispelled the defence's suggestion that she was ordered to make the transfers in 2014 and 2015 by fugitive businessperson Low Taek Jho
She testified yesterday that between 2004 and 2006, she worked at the Wynton Private Equity Group, an investment firm formerly owned by Low
Defence lawyer Harvinderjit Singh spent about three hours of today's hearing at the Kuala Lumpur High Court scrutinising Ung's chat messages with AmBank relationship manager Joanna Yu and several others
Harvinderjit tried to get the witness to agree that she received instructions from Low by way of other figures linked to SRC International, including former CEO Nik Faisal Ariff Kamil and former 1MDB finance director Terrence Geh.Referring to a chat between Ung and Yu on Feb 9, 2015, the lawyer asked if Geh ordered an RM10 million transfer to an AmBank account ending in 880
Harvinderjit: Instructions came from Geh
Ung: No, from Azlin
Harvinderjit: Come on, Geh is another person in the habit of taking instructions from Low
Ung: Geh worked with 1MDB, and Low might be one of them
Harvinderjit: You know Geh and Nik Faisal worked with Low. I suggest you took instructions from Low
Ung: No, no, no
In her witness statement read out in court yesterday, Ung named Azlin as the individual who instructed her to order to Ihsan Perdana Sdn Bhd to transfer a total of RM42 million into two AmBank accounts belonging to Najib
Harvinderjit also suggested today that Ung only implicated Azlin as she was trying to avoid revealing her connection to Low – saying that it was convenient to blame a dead person. Harvinderjit: My suggestion to you – you never received instructions from Azlin, and what you told the court was utter lies
Ung: Disagree
Harvinderjit: Besides the WhatsApp messages, you have no other proof of your conversation with Azlin? Ung: Yes, that's correct
Harvinderjit: And conveniently, the messages have been deleted
Ung: I deleted all the messages when he died
Harvinderjit: Your other reason is that you don't want to disclose your relationship with Low, as you don't want to be embroiled in the affair with knowledge
Ung: Disagree
Harvinderjit: You have been told to use his (Azlin's) name as there is proximity with my client
Ung: Low and your client also know each other, right? - Mkini
